ABOUT US

The Cellar Door - The Experience

Our award-winning cellar door with its soaring canopies reaching for the sky is truly breathtaking and the perfect backdrop for the Tempus Two experience.  Located on the corner of Broke and McDonalds Road in the quaint Hunter Valley community of Pokolbin (just under two hours’ drive north of Sydney), our Tempus Two showcase is a deliberately strong statement.

Designed by Suters Architects to a brief from Lisa McGuigan to provide an eye-catching reinterpretation of the traditional country shed, our cellar door celebrates clean, refined elegance.  The entry into each of the seven pavilions from the public plaza through the backward sloping doors conveys the sensation of descending into the mystery, and magic, of a wine cellar.  The pewter doors mirror our trademark metallic stamped labels.  It’s modern, but it’s also an acknowledgement of the past, with the amphitheatre and exposed columns echoing civilizations past.

As a proud member of the Hunter Valley community, and in recognition of our belief that great wine makes every meal an occasion, every table more elegant, and every day more civilized, we are also proud hosts of local drama and theatre productions and art shows.  And, we have hosted some of the largest outdoor concerts to have been staged in the Hunter, bringing world-class performers like Elton John, Rod Stewart, the Beach Boys, Santana, KD Lang, INXS and Matchbox Twenty.

The cellar door is home to a boutique cheese shop, a Japanese restaurant specialising in Tepanyaki and an exclusive bar. Tempus Two is also the perfect site for events hosted in the atmospheric Barrel Room, which houses the Tempus Two wine-making barrels.
